Student Learning Outcomes

 

Sociology

 
Students who complete courses in Sociology will be able to:
 
  1. Know what the "sociological imagination" entails and how the sociological perspective differs from other social sciences
  2. Know how the discipline of sociology has developed historically, and how it is relevant to the study of contemporary sociology
  3. Know basic, introductory level statistical analyses and use research methodologies used in sociological research
  4. Know the major sociological theoretical paradigms:  Structural Functionalism, Social Conflict, Symbolic Interactionism
  5. Analyze the structure of social institutions using the perspectives of the theoretical paradigms
