Student Learning Outcomes

 

Journalism

 
Students who complete courses in Journalism will be able to:
 
  1. Recognize what is and isn't news worthy
  2. Organize and compose news and feature stories
  3. Identify libel material and know to avoid inclusion of it in their writing
  4. Identify, analyze and discuss the functions, impact and effects of the mass communication media in America.
  5. Plan, layout and produce a publication
  6. Differentiate among related concepts of publicity, advertising, public affairs, and public relations
  7. Use critical thinking skills to assist in news judgment and ethical questions concerning the media.
