Student Learning Outcomes

 

Cosmetology

 
Students who take courses in Cosmetology will be able to:
 
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the histology of skin; the basics of chemistry and electricity; anatomy and physiology; and health and safety.
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of interpersonal or people skills; salon business or workplace skills; and service learning
  3. Demonstrate an understanding of facials -- electrical, chemical, and manual -- and make-up.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of hair removal -- manual and wax depilatory
  5. Demonstrate an understanding of draping and shampooing, and wet hairstyling
  6. Demonstrate an understanding of scalp treatments -- manual and electrical
  7. Demonstrate an understanding of hair cutting and hair coloring
  8. Demonstrate an understanding of permanent waving; soft curl permanent waving on overly curly hair -- thioglycolate relaxer
  9. Demonstrate an understanding of thermal hairstyling -- not pressing comb and marcel iron or blow dryer and curling iron
  10. Demonstrate an understanding of manicuring and artificial nails and nail repair, and pedicuring
